mid-band emphasis
Green Green noise
Green noise is an informal colour with energy pushed toward the middle of the spectrum, often described as the sound of nature or gentle surf.
What the evidence says
Green noise has no single agreed technical definition and little direct research. This is the most honest entry on the page: we tell you the definition is loose.
Because there is no standard, tracks labelled green noise vary a lot. Ours is defined by a mid-band emphasis around 500 Hz, and we publish exactly where the energy sits.
How we measure it
Synthesized with a deliberate mid-band hump and shown in the FFT so you can see what our green noise actually is.
