432 Hz Alternative tuning

432 Hz is an alternative tuning for the note A, slightly below the modern 440 Hz standard. Some listeners find it subjectively warmer.

What the evidence says

Evidence that 432 Hz tuning has a distinct physiological effect over 440 Hz is limited and inconsistent. Any difference is small and largely subjective.

This is a tuning preference, not a special frequency. The interesting question is whether a track sold as 432 Hz is actually tuned to 432 Hz, and that is something you can measure.

How we measure it

We tune the reference A to 432 Hz and verify the pitch center in the FFT. If a track claims 432 Hz, the spectrum should show it.
